We hereby announce:

Basic Income is a human right!


When?

14 September 2013 at 1 PM


What?

A Demonstration through Berlin's city center to the Swiss embassy. One week before the German elections we will be demonstrating against low wages, exploitation, for more freedom and self-determination. We demand an Unconditional Basic Income paid:

  • to all people individually and guaranteed
  • on a level as to allow a decent living standard and participation in society
  • without a means test (income/assests test)
  • without forced work or service to qualify

Where and how?

13:00
Rally at Neptunbrunnen, near Alexanderplatz in Berlin, where there will be 3-minute statements about the Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) by:

Ralph Boes, non-partisan parliamentary candidate in Berlin, Basic Income and anti-Hartz IV activist

Lisa Paus, Green Party, Member of the German federal parliament (Bundestag), a direct candidate for the Bundestag in Berlin

Susanne Wiest, Pirate Party, top candidate in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (a German state) and a direct candidate in Greifswald for the Bundestag, petitioner for Basic Income to the Bundestag

Jutta Zedlitz, The Violets, this party's Berlin leader, a direct candidate for the Bundestag in Berlin

Katja Kipping, Left-wing Party, Member of the Bundestag, party leader, top candidate in Saxony and a direct candidate for the Bundestag in Dresden, co-founder of the German Basic Income Network

Mathias Schweitzer, Union ver.di, a works council at Deutsche Telekom, organizer of various proposals for a Basic Income at ver.di, co-founder of the platform Unionists' Basic Income Dialog

Statement by Daniel Häni and Enno Schmidt: Basic Income and Democracy, The Swiss National Initiative for an Unconditional Basic Income

Statement by Inge Hannemann, former labor broker working in a Jobcenter in Hamburg, nominated for the taz Panter Preis (newspaper award). She says: "Hartz IV (German social system) violates human dignity and applicable law, so must go!"

Short statements about the Citizens' Initiative for an Unconditional Basic Income in Europe (ECI) by guests from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom.

A symbolic transfer of momentum from the successful Swiss National Initiative for an Unconditional Basic Income to the Citizens' Initiative for an UBI in Europe. Daniel Häni and Enno Schmidt will hand over a T-shirt with the Swiss flag to the ECI. A banner showing the logo of the ECI and a reference to the German one of its websites will be unrolled.
